New:
STUDENTS:

1. Reminder, all students who do not show up to CAP Parent conferences will go LAST at union registration.  This does not just mean last in your class, but last after all the other classes have registered.  Please make every effort to attend your scheduled conference with your parent.

2. Any cap and gown order mailed into BALFOUR after March 24 will have to pay $41 total for cap and gown…. $15 late fee.

3. Fundraiser – Mark your calendars April 5 (4 p.m. - 10 p.m.) Geno's Pizza by the Slice in Greenwood - 10% of all proceeds go to GHS Softball Team - Thanks for your support.

4. Class of 2010 Who's Who pictures will be taken on Tuesday, April 6. Please get with your person and decide what you are going to wear. Any questions please see Mrs. Aishman in Career Center.

5. There are a few State Championship Girls Basketball t-shirt left.  See Ms. Skaggs in Room B5 cost $10. Second orders are being taken for a State Championship Girls Basketball shirt.  See Ms. Skaggs to place your order.

6.  Juniors are invited to attend "Den Day" at UA Fort Smith on Thursday, April 1.  Please register by calling 479-788-7120.  You must use a college or professional day.  Get the form from Mrs. Lensing at least 48 hours in advance.

7. 2009-2010 NHS shirts are ready to order. The design and example order form are posted on the trophy case in A hall by the counselors office.  If you would like to order one, see Mrs. Dixon in the career center about an order form.

8. Art Club T-Shirts - there is a sign-up sheet in A-16 if you want a 2009-10 t-shirt.  The cost is $15 and we will take money up before we order.

9. Girls, before you purchase your prom dress this year, please check the dress code information posted on the bulletin board outside Room B5.

10. Juniors and seniors interested in attending SAU Magnolia are encouraged to attend their preview days which will be held (April 9).  Register online at www.saumag.edu/rsvp .   They will also be having a Science Center Dedication on Monday, April 5 (the Governor will be attending). and science majors are encouraged to attend that day.  For more information see Mr. D in the counselor's office.

11. FCCLA is conducting a canned food drive.  Food will be collected in 2nd hour classes and food boxes will be provided.  The 2nd hour class that brings the most total food items will win a donut and juice party.  All food collected will be donated to our local food bank.

12. East Lab is raising money for Haiti relief.  Donation jars are in the main building classrooms. “Help Haiti” T-shirts are for sale in the Student Union for $5.00.

13. The EAST program is sponsoring a plastic bottle recycling program. Recycling bins can be found throughout the school and in the Student Union. We ask that you take this opportunity to help the environment and please remove the lids from your empty bottles before placing them in the bins.

14. Students interested in pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field are invited to apply for a summer camp sponsored by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).  These camps will be hosted by the US Air Force academy in Colorado Springs, the US Navy Seabees at Port Heuneme, CA, and the SAME Vicksburg post in MS.  There are partial scholarships available on a competitive basis.  Students wishing to apply need to visit   and apply online.  The application deadline is March 23.  

15. Current juniors and sophomores may apply for entrance into the M*A*S*H program (Medical Application for Science in Health).  This is a free two week summer session held at Sparks, St. Edward Mercy Medical Center or Summit Medical Center Monday-Friday from 9-4. Students provide their own transportation, and should be interested in a possible future career in Medicine or Science. Please see a counselor for application materials, and the deadline for application is April 20.

16. All students or parents needing a driver's license form, transcript or any other form from the counselors' office must sign up in the counselors' office, or the parents must send a letter requesting the form with the student to turn into the counselors' office.  The form will be ready within 24 hours.  No phone call requests are permitted.

19. Seniors need to bring a copy of any scholarship award letters to Mrs. Dean in the counseling office.
20. Seniors, choose a college www.college-scholarships.com/arkansas.htm  for information and links to colleges in Arkansas.

21. Any student found to be texting during the school day will be issued an In School Suspension (ISS).

22. Students are still checking out during the day without having a note in the office by 8:00 a.m. for the announcements.  If you do not turn in a note and have to check out during the day and it is not an emergency you will receive a NOON detention.

23. Any student riding a different bus than their regular bus or anyone needing to ride a bus home with someone must have a signed note from home and that note must be approved by Mr. Dean or Mr. Efurd. The signed note must then be given to the driver of the bus you are to ride. 

24. Any student who might be transferring to a different school or state, MUST come by the office the week the transfer will take place and see Mrs. Jones.  A withdrawal form must be taken to each teacher, books returned, teacher must sign and return to the office before a transfer. 

25. We are having too many students leaving food & trash in the Student Union and the PE Gym.   When finished with your lunch, you need to make sure your area is clean.

26.  No students is to be up by the rock gym in the afternoon.  When catching the bus you will need to walk up the bus road or by walk by the practice football field. 

TEACHERS:

1. Check the printed announcements and rosters for students checking out, on school business, dropped or in ISS. Do not count them absent.

2. Friday, April 2, is the final embedded professional development day. There will be no classes that day.

3. Next regulary scheduled faculty meeting Tuesday, April 6, @ 7:30 a.m. in the art room.

4. Check the media center plan book for available dates.

7. Please make sure you are watching for all cell phones, checking for dress code violation and checking for badges first period and that you are enforcing this issue fairly with each student
